View Full Version : Sorry for the two day "time out" but I HAD to "take" some time for me/my car

Spent the last couple days rounding up or ordering some much-needed parts for my car and some tools for the upcoming airbox secondary inlet modification.

I'll just pay an Audi mechanic friend to moonlight the installation on all the suspension parts so I can keep doing the Stage 3 stuff. I got front/rear Bilstein Sport shocks, Audi/Eibach european TUV springs (same as come on the A4/2.8 european "sport" sprung car w/Audi part #'s from the dealer). Front/rear Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors and Pagid "black" sport pads along with new strut bearings and new pair of rebuilt front axles.

My deal on HJS Motorsport cats fell thru due to unresponsiveness on their part so I went with my contingency plan of all Maganflow products. Starting with a High Flow dual 2" inlet stainless cat with single 2.5" outlet. A 2.5" inlet/outlet offset stainless 11" "pre-muffler" and a 2.5" inlet to dual 2.25"x3" oval, angle cut/rolled tip outlets. Bought all mandrel bent "J"/"U" bends to cut and weld the system with slip-fit joints and no clamps. The system is designed to provide increased low-end "snap" as well as much better high RPM flow. Should also be an acceptably low noise level. Fingers crossed.

Also snagged a new Dwyer NTSA certified digital manometer/magnehelic gauge for testing pressure differentials in stock airbox with the new lower duct. This will allow me to calibrate the two airbox inlets to each other so that neither is over-powered by the other and are perfectly matched/tuned to each other. I can now measure pressure differentials, neg pressure and positive pressure and velocities down to .01kPa (.00014 psi) and up to 2.04 bar (29.99psi) with KILLER accuracy, repeatability and resolution. Nice toy!!

No pics yet as I'm still in the midst of a significant learning curve with the new Sony DSC-F717. But at least now I can store a TON of pictures with dual 512MB memory sticks instead of the old single 1.44MB floppies (4-6 high-res pics per disc max)that my previous camera used. 1,024MB (+or- 4,000 high-res pics) ought to hold me for awhile doncha think!?!

Now back to reality and out to the garage to make adjustable FPR's. Big run on those for the local 1.8T/2.7T/S4/TT guys of late.
