I replaced my Dunlop SP5000 Sports (225/50-16) after 45K miles of excellent wear. I was going to use the Dunlops again, but my friend really recommended the BFGs. I decided to try them and I don't regret it one bit!
Installing the BFGs were a bit of a challenge. The sidewalls were so stiff that the tire shop had to use 95-100 PSI to seat the bead on the rim! (Most tires only require 40-45 PSI.)
As for driving on these tires, I have to say that they're super responsive and very grippy! They're surprisingly smooth riding and quiet too! (I have Eibach springs and sport shocks.) I think the Dunlops had gotten much louder as they wore out, so the noise comment may not be entirely fair, but I am enjoying the new-found quietness.
Other things I've noticed: steering effort has gotten a little lighter and turn-in is very quick and precise. The sidewalls don't deflect like they did on the Dunlops so cornering is much more sure-footed and precise. And I was also pleasantly surprised that I could actually feel my A4's chassis work! I could feel the front and rear springs take a set when cornering.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this tire! I like the so much that I'm convinced that I'll buy these tires again. But I've also read that snow traction isn't very good, so if you live in an area that snows, you may want to look at other tire choices.
