I know it's an extra $271.61 (thepartsbin.com--cheapest place for it), but you will definately not want to tear open the housing that holds both the blower & evap core again in the future after doing it once, unless you're sadistic. ;0) Waiby 07-31-2003, 08:25 PM but if i need to replace the central flap motor, then that's a major PITA. Also, my air blower was working for a while today, but sound like crap... have a hollow sound to it and LOUD!! Waiby 07-31-2003, 08:29 PM MM120 08-01-2003, 10:53 AM The housing that contains the blower/evaporator/heater core has metal clips along the outside perimeter that have to be removed. You can't get to all of them w/out removing the whole thing. You'll have to remove the dash, instrument panel, steering wheel, airbags, radio, A/C control panel, all consoles, several wire harnesses & bolts, driver & passenger knee bolsters, glove box, some brackets, vent tunnels, partially drain the coolant, remove A/C lines(2) to the evaporator, hoses(2) to the heater core, & everything associated with all of theses parts. It's not too hard, but very time consuming. I started on a Friday evening, & finished that Sunday around noon. If you decide to tackle it, take plenty of pictures & label all of your wire harnesses to correspond to it's counterpart. MM120 08-01-2003, 10:56 AM There's a few of us here who've done this, so feel free to ask questions. bogelo 08-02-2003, 08:51 AM From my experience, I don't think you have to take out the evap core housing to change the air blower. So it shouldn't be very hard to do. But if you are going to change the flap motor, unfortunately you have to take out the whole evap. core housing. |
