What do you think would quiet down a sport muffler more...stock resonator or Mid muffler (like UrA4's). I plan on adding a magnaflow ss sport muffler to my stock exhaust system to give it a sporty tone, however i want that sporty tone to be quiet. I am more concerned with how loud it is over the performance benefit of running full piping with a hi flow mid muffler. Any thoughts or suggestions on the matter?
TIA
steven

I have the rear muffler right now and am switching from the Magneflow center res to a seabring center res next time I have a chance to hit Labree. I can let you know how that works out...

a few weeks. I also think I have a small leak right around the exhaust manifold and DP junction, it just doesn't sound quite right.

Can you ask LaBree for me if they can get this muffler and how much? Also, find out what you will be using for a resonator.

Thanks....<ul><li><a href="http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pn.asp?PartNo=981222-6&amp;LineNo=229871000">Sebring rear muffler for A4</a></li></ul>

I got a magna flow high performance muffler in place of my stock resonator, and a Silver bullet muffler after that. It sounds very nice... Not to loud

(I had to go back several times because it was too loud, until this combo worked)

send them. Look for tantrumworks, or werks they are the official dealer for Labree maybe Daryl can get you hooked up. He posts here from time to time, especially when I get something new from Labree.

...and the silver bullet muffler, or with the magnaflow center and silver bullet muffler?
Thanks

is it for performance reasons, or are you trying to achieve a louder/quieter tone?

stock mid muffler in there any time recently. All in all the exhaust is loud, no two ways about it. But if you just driving and not hammering on it, the sound is very nice. No interior groan or vibration. Just a good whail from the outside. Once I get this gasket issue resolved it should clean it up a bit too.

I never tried it with the stock resonator...

I am told that the stock resonator is a "straight through" resonator which wouldnt make it quieter. Exhaust peeps told me that to quiet it down and keep the silver bullet, needed to put somthing more restrictive in place of the stock resonator... They treated me very well, no reason to think they were lying (I hope)

I just changed out my mufflers about a month ago. Didn't touch the rest of the exhaust. I went with two stainless steel Magnaflow mufflers. Part numbers were (mid muffler) 14416 and I believe (rear muffler) 14218. Put a couple Magnaflow SS tips on the rear muffler as well. I did not like this combination. The car definately pulled a lot harder but the sound was ear deafening inside the cabin in between 1500-3500 RPMs. Strangely enough the sound went away after about 3500 RPMs and did sound nice. I did away with the mid magnaflow muffler and put the stock muffler back in thus eliminating the "rumble," but left me a few ponies short of the previous configuration. I love the sound now though. Sounds great at all RPM's. I have gotten many compliments at work. When finances afford, I will probably tinker around with the mid muffler again.
