Friend of mine told me yesterday that there used to be a gizmo available for Porsche/VW that was an inline plug-in module that went between the MAF and harness plugs with 3 dip switches and a small rheostat knob that was used as an in-line resistor for low/mid/high voltage outputs. And featured a ground/power socket for taking readings with a voltmeter. Could not increase any voltages but could be used to reduce voltages in all 3 speed modes. Novel idea!

He said it was very small and clipped into the MAF socket then the harness socket clipped into it with all stock plugs. And it just lived there til you removed it. He said it was a very popular item on MAF-equipped V-dubs and normally aspirated 944's.

Anyone ever heard tell of such a beast? He seemed to remember it costing in the $85 to sub-$100 range and was a VERY common modification. Would that be a nice find or what!?!

no wires, leads or remote module. Everything was 2"x1.5"x1/2" thick. Simply plugged into the MAF then the harness plugged into it. Made all adjustments and took volt readings on the top of the unit right at the MAF.
