Let out the clutch in second and punch it to red line:

From when the clutch is just let out, around 750RPM: 10 sec
From 1000RPM: 9 sec

Just to use the same outside conditions and compare I also did a 0-60mph run using UrS4's method and got 8 flat (using both gears).

Let me say first off that I think it a far more accurate method for acessing gains than the old 1st/2nd gear method. Where I run into problems is the journals I've kept every step of the way on my and my sons car using the 'old' method. Now when I do use this method I have nothing to campare the numbers to or to have a clue how they stack up against the old way/numbers.

The other problem I've found in experimenting with the "all 2nd gear" method is that at a 5mph stomp my car HATES to get going. It stumbles, hits a big hole then slowly starts to climb out and come alive. May be due to getting so much more air now than before but since I never tested it this way early on I have nothing to compare it to.

Now at a 10mph stomp in 2nd it's better. It will then climb out of that speed smoothly, albeit very slowly. But at least it doesn't fall into that too-high-gear-5mph-hole.

I'm perfect willing to start using this method if we can all arrive at some mutually-agreeable starting point that's higher than 5mph. Or it could even be an RPM-related threshhold for hitting the go-pedal. But 5mph in 2nd just doesn't work for me, my mods and this altitude

And unfortunately I still need to continue my 1st-2nd 0-60 runs as well as thats where ALL my baseline data and comparisons are logged and there's no conversion chart available.

to stumble, but from 1K up its ok. We could do 2K up launches but that would require some throttle balance and would be a little tougher. Either way, I'm glad to help out any wich way I can so let me know whats best for you. I do think that RPM is better then speed since my guages are in KM/H and so I can never be sure how well I hit the mark. Up to 60mph is easy cause its right at the red line of second and that is what I go by.
