The reason I did it is because a friend did it for free plus I recently failed my emmisions so wanted to see if it will show anything. Then hooked it up and nothing showed...."0 errors found"
When I took my MAF screen off few wweeks ago I got the CEL, but it went off after putting the screen back on....should there been any codes at least for this???

in the DTC log. They seem to disappear with every off/on cycle of the ignition key.

Thats why I was so surprised Thursday when I used 3 separate VAG scan tools and no codes were recorded in spite of a CEL that had been on before I turned the engine off and pulled codes.

I even posted about it.
