Interesting to see the actual filtration checked as well for a change!

http://www.geocities.com/mikegoodies3/inductionintro.html</a

View Full Version : One of the better filter type comparisons.. SiV6Qcoupe 04-02-2003, 01:20 PM Interesting to see the actual filtration checked as well for a change!

http://www.geocities.com/mikegoodies3/inductionintro.html</a

VAP 04-02-2003, 03:07 PM No insult or sarcasm intended to the poster as I'm sure you're well-intentioned and trying to help but this is absurd. Loved their scientific media for testing filter efficiency... "dirt." Umm... and what various size micron cross-section dirt would that be? Scientific my butt! And what about those HP claims!?! Outrageous! Looks like the vacuum was used for that too as there's no mention of test vehicle used or the dyno that spewed out those numbers. I'll see if I can't find some real lab tests as I've seen several over the years. Again, sorry to the poster, I mean you no insult but those people are idiots. MikTip 04-02-2003, 05:48 PM Granted it may not of been a "sterile" scientific enviroment enclosed in a climate controlled lab! 99.9% of us here dont have access to such equipment, or ever see such things posted here. But we get the idea, of how much dirt these types of filters can ingest! I've been told by quite a few people about the dirt my cone filter ingests! Is it bad for my engine? The cone filters seem to be good for performance? As with many items, its a trade-off. You trade better engine breathing, for a bit more dirt ingested. The compairson seems to be performed by "simple folks", using what they had available, to show people in the "simplest terms". May not be all scientific & posh, but it gets the point accross! Ever heard of the "KISS" theory? K- keep I-it S-Simple S-stupid No insults intended! ;O) The site seems to say the Apexi filter is the best! ;O) Maybe a hidden marketing ploy? Audiboy 04-02-2003, 06:04 PM not the vacuum cleaner. Also, the test vehicle appears to be a skyline, so perhaps the hp numbers quoted are for the R33 GTR vs stock? |
