I've been working on a home made MAF calibrator for a few months now and its finally reached a stage that I can install and splice it into the MAF/ECU wiring loom and hopefully test it in the real world.

So far it has only been bench tested and the circuitry works as it should. The unit is similar to the Split Second ARC1 unit in its operational perameters so it gives an adjustment throughout the rev range of between -20 and +20% (Low)and also a gain increase up to 20% (High). I would normally show a picture but at the moment it's just a box with two control knobs! I'll grab some pictures as soon as it's fully installed and working.

The whole reason for doing this project was obviously the hunger for a few bhp plus the fact that my MAF does need recalibrating! the reason being I have removed the central post under the sample tube to increase volume flow area but the idea of proportionally increasing the sample tube diameter is a little unaccurate and permanent, so no room for error!

I've been running the post-less MAF for over a year now and although there is a noticable gain at lower to mid rpm, I do suffer at full throttle as indicated by my A/F gauge. So putting things into perspective, my MAF unit is not reading the full volume of air that is entering the manifold. The calibrator should address these problems and lengthen the injector pulse to match the additional air. For the time being I am relying on my A/F gauge to verify any results and to see if WOT (open loop)will give me a 13.5:1 A/F ratio.

Just got to say I'm no electrical wizard just got a crash course in basic electronics from the internet and although I thoroughly tried there are no handy schematics of MAF calibrators on the net!

Or was it a kit? or did you make it from a set of plans?

Either way, its great that you did it yourself. What type of engine management is on your car? Bosch or Hitachi?

i sold my PES supercharger to this company, and they put it on a 944. They get flammed on rennlist alot because they never build anything that works. Are you saying the maf tuner they offer is good?

a guy in the 90 forum told me you used this on your black 90. How did it work?

All the work gone into this project is purely my own doing!

Yes, there are excellent devices that have a wider range of scope and controlable variables but whose going to pay their retail prices with results you cannot predict? you may be paying $500+ for little or no gain where forced induction is not being used.

Hopefully today I will be able to report some results.

System is Hitachi running on a '94 AAH V6.
