Should I stick with OEM wires when replacing mine or should I go with something fancier?

I have read some info that the Magnecor wires may not be the best for our cars but I (and many others) have been using them without any problems. Nology also makes wires but are needlessly overpriced.

My Magnecor 8.5mm Competition wires were about $90 a set. They make thinner wires for less money (7mm and 8mm, IIRC).

I'll go with nology hot wires, but they are pretty expensive (around $300). It really works, it provides smooth idling, better gas mileage. Try it & you'll believe.

IMO, better keep the stock wires if you want to get other than nology. Even original wire costs more than $100. BERU costs ~$113 and BOSCH cost $128 (alloemaudiparts.com).

Reality check: you'll get what you paid for.

hard to beat the German made wires. Factory stuff is sometimes ok

Bosch even used the more expensive Beru connectors instead of the cheaper Bosch connectors on the Ultra Premiums. Anal-compulsive German Engineering Minds Obsessed with Quality--ya gotta love it.

For instance...will my stock plugs go bad rather quickly?

Are better wires any better for the engine? I have OEM bremis on right now.

Better wires will cause a better spark and optimize combustion. That means the plugs should foul less and wear better.

Best plug I've found for the money, to run with the Nology wires are A/C Delco Rapid Fire #9's!

Another 12v'er looked for them but could not find them easily. I pulled the part number for him and do not know what happened after that. If you would like, I will pull the part number again. Just e-mail me if you have any interest in researching the current price on them.

I'll try one more source myself, and if I can't track the the wires down, then I'll come back to your offer. Thanks!
