My '94 V6 is getting too old for development and so probably has a lot of A4 12v'ers engines. By the time someone comes a long with a supercharger or turbocharger conversion we're all going to be looking for replacement engines/cars anyway!

I have to say I am thinking seriously about a 30v transplant conversion.
My current 12v has issues: the parts needed are mounting up and the amount of labor needed goes beyond my free time! - just need a good reliable lump in a coupe bodyshell!

development is not the engine but the ECU. Sure a 30V engine is modern, but all the parts around that head are still the same as the 12V. I mean if you are talking about your parts failing in time such as the water pump, engine mounts, power steering pump, oil seals, etc, the parts for the 12V and 30V are the same. The one thing you loose with a 30V transplant is extra room around the engine to do anything. A 12V with mods is much faster than a 30V with a chip and exhaust - why? Unless you can find a way to eliminate the log style exhaust manifold on a 30V, breathing is restricted. Unlike the small 12V, you can fit equal lenght headers in there.

If you do a 30V transplant, you're stuck with the electronics, unless you transplant the whole wiring harness and components also. At that point, it's better to replace the whole car. If you do stand alone, there's no point in going with a 30V engine, because you can just have someone fabricate brackets to attach an intercooled supercharger on the right side of the engine

If you do not believe me, find someone who owns one and drive it. You will find that your modded 12v compares very favorably.

Besides, how many miles do you have on your '94? 150,000? Your engine has barely hit middle age.
