First off I'd like to say thanks for the new forum...this is great!
Anyway here's my issue:
Lately my car seems to be forcefully sucking air like mad. I think the secondary fan is on all the time. The only other time I've heard this noise before this all started was in the summer when I would have the A/C compressor on and it was really hot outside. Now it does it all the time, especially over 3k rpm, even with the climate control off and it's -3 out. Maybe this is just a coincidence but this started after I had my ICV changed. Connection? Some people suggest it could be a temp sensor but there are so many, which one?
Also, I just have the stock air box w/ K&N filter.
Thanks!

Lower left(drivers side) and see if the fan shuts off.

That fan is the primary fan and the electric one would be considered the secondary one, also called condensor fan.

I meant the primary fan, sorry my fault. The thing is that it seems to be running very strong, so strong that you can hear the car coming up the steet. It never used to do that before I had the ICV changed (it was changed to a Bosch one). I'm trying to figure out what is going on with my car (the loss of power is huge!)
thanks!

drain. If the bearing that the fan pulley rides on is bad you could notice a power drain and a lot of noise.

is it alot of work to replace? And being an Audi I'm sure the parts will cost me my kidney right?
Thanks for all your help Dave!

It's not bad, just slide the lock carrier forward and it's all right there.
