Hello,
I contacted your company to rectify some logging problems with the new CAN protocal for my B7 A4.

Some history. I have used the older softwares in the 300 and 400 version range for both the B5 and the B6 cars with absolutely zero problems with the same computer.

The computer I am using is a dedicated vag tool lab top for the garage. It has no other extraneous programs, NO internet connection, and no bugs. It uses the serial port to connect. It is an IBM laptop.

When trying the 504 software I am not able to hold the logging channels for very long into the logs before they turn red in color and no longer work.

At the advice of your company I downloaded the new 510 beta program and I have the same results.

Please advise on a solution or let me know if you need any more data on the problem.

Thank you.

cheers! Mike

It is a portable computer. It has a pentium chip and about 128mb of ram. It appears to have a metal case that is coated with a black protective coating or finish. I dont know much about computers except to say that I still have the old versions of vag-com on it and use them very successfully on the B6 and B5 cars with no glitches of any kind. The computer does not have ANY programs on it whatsover besides vag-com, ms office (for MS excel), and the ETKA parts program. It is not used to store anything besides excel files and the hard drive is basically empty. It has never been connected to the internet.

Please let me know if anymore information is needed. cheers! Mike

Some people reported that diagnostics via CAN need more processor power than the old K-line diagnostics.

before I go out and buy a new computer (or used one since I want to continue to use the serial port). I'd hate to go buy another computer and have the same problems. Could this just be a problem that will be fixed with a revision later or do you think it is something else? Could it be a bum cable that loses connection inside of it or something? cheers! Mike

I've got another idea how to find your problem, but this needs verification. So stay tuned.
