ok, i get some cash together to buy a laptop and vagcom software and i cant get the laptop to work with the generic cable. cable works fine with my home pc when connected to the serial port and using 311.2 but when i test com port 1 i get the message.

com port status ok
interface not found

the laptop is a dell 600m

i did read some threads regarding disable hotsync
but i have no idea what that is.

anyhelp would be great

i respect what you do here and help others with your products. i currently dont have enough money to buy your interface but do have enough to buy a software license. when i have another $129.00 to spare i am upgrading to the finest interface in the business (ross-tech) but for now i was trying to get by on what i have. i am not ranting, just stating my situation. i also seem to see alot of other posts regarding generic cables here with great support so i thought i would see if anyone was willing to help me.

I have the cheap Chinese serial cable. Vag-com and Baum doesn't work with XP.
