Hi all. I'm trying to generate readiness codes using the Bentley procedures and cannot get the 3 procedures above to work. The cat and o2 tests all worked perfectly (these are the hold rpm at 1800-2200 tests).

The 3 above (go to blocks 070, 071, and 077; switch to basic settings, then let idle until test completes) won't work at all. I can't even get the test to begin.

The Bentley manual says to blip the throttle then let idle for the test to run, but I can't even get the tests to start.

Anyone done this before or have any adivce? Car is a 98.5 30Vqms. Thanks,

GaryJ

I have the exact same car as you. I have to go to CT emissions testing soon so I thought it would be time to get up off my @ss and get this thing to work.

After you disconnect the battery (which I had to do a few weeks ago) all the emissions related ODB II flags get set to 1, which means fail.

Most will clear very easily just by doing a drive around town, getting on the highway and one WOT.

The EVAP readiness seems to be the hardest to clear. I have done it without Vagcom but it seems to have takens months.

I did it today by performing Group 070 and 071 Basic Settings Tests. Open the engine Controller and click on Basic Settings. Then start with Group 070 and hit go. It will take a while but if the car has no problem the EVAP system testing will pass.
Then repeat with Group 071, you hear a some clicks and then an air pump (either pressurizing or vacuum in the gas tank) near the gas tank. It will take a minute or two. If you have no mechnical problem it will pass.

Your EVAP System Readiness should now be clear.

BTW, your engine has to be running, warmed up and nothing else on (i.e. fan, radio, etc. OFF).
