I'd like to be able to reprogram my door locks, and whatever else I can screw up while I'm at it.

I'm a bit overwhelmed with the apparent options of cables, software and platforms.

I have a new iPaq that might be fun to use for this, as well as a laptop.

I see some check cables on ebay, as well as fancier ones, such as the Ross-Tech offerings. It's not that I'm stingy, as much as just trying to figure out what the right choice would be. If a $40 cable and free pcket pc software would do the same thing as a $350 package, I might be foolish to squander the money on the more expensive one, right? Plus, I don't know if that fancy cable would work with the pocket pc (VAG-CHECK).

Any advice to get me started would be greatly appreciated!
