Ok im all excited and ready to get my laptop in a few days.

It is a Panasonic Toughbook (indestructible , great for logs while driving)

Tell me if im missing anything that I will need to install on it to be a effecient Vager

Here's what I got so far:

Ross Tech UNI COM Cable
Vag 3031n installer zipped format
Vag Scope zipped format
Bentely DTC List for A4/S4 in Excel worksheet
From RossTech.com VagCodes (which includes Central Locking Unit codes that is on AW Tech section)
ETKA on CD to install onto laptop.

Anything else you can think of that I might need?

so if I'm working and need to look at something online, it's usually not a problem - but I don't know if you have broadband/wireless routing at your pad. other than that you look pretty well covered...

I figure for the most I just need the DTc list from Bentley which I already have to load as a Excel file onto the laptop. I hear the Bentley CD is not all that great. If I can get it cheap i'll get it otherwise i'll just get the paper manual

my PC is a cable modem connected via USb and I hear it's a pain to configure usb modems.

So to do this I would need the modem going through a router and a pcmcia card for the laptop , etc. all of which would really only let me sit in my garage and go on the net to look something up.

Its not hard for me to log whatever data I need , save it to the laptop and take it upstairs to jump on the net from my PC

I'd love to see the paper manual someday to see if there's an index or table of contents or some easy way to find stuff.

Then it's woefully incomplete, most especially in the area of diagnostic procedures. The service manual is written assuming you do NOT have access to a VAG-type scan tool.

The CD's are all "Official Factory Repair Manuals" and they have ALL the content that the dealer haas in his AESIS system.
