I'm in search of a new laptop that will be only for vag-com. So I just want it to be the basic needs for it. I read the ross-tech requirements for the software.

What do you guys use?

I did buy a brand new laptop last year. But that one went belly up :/ with all my vag-com software and hundreds of photos I lost :/ By the way it was a toshiba 1805-S204, seems like they weren't made very well. There goes 1k or so :/

When I find something good, I'll have to call uwe and ask to give me another registration # since I couldn't get a deactivation code. Before the total failure of the motherboard :O

thanks,
jaime

of ram, 166 mhz, floppy, modem, network card, completely functioning. it works fine with vag, and i may have even paid too much for it.

I have always liked desktops much better. For price and ease of parts. But the laptop is necessary for vag-com logs :)

Originally built for the US military. Very heavy-duty rugged metal case, TFT display, P166, 64M..

Many available on eBay for ~$169.

I remember when I tested wireless apps on those things...they were around 3-4 grand a pop!

would you really pay more than $200 for one?

It's a hunk of crap, but it works. :)

They are prolly dirt cheap on ebay. Not useful for anything else but vag-com tho :P

It was just the fact that it was a ruggedized machine with very good engineering IMO. I was always impressed with the design although I would still take a Libretto over that.

I'm waiting for a 32MB upgrade kit to show up (paid $6 for it :P) and then I'll probably load Win98SE
