Just got online quotes from an Adelaide insurance broker. Only two quotes were returned which were -
Royal & Sun Alliance: nearly $1300
QBE: over $1800
This compares with Audi Insurance which for me is about $1100. Same basic + age excess.
FYI I'm 29, have a rating 1, NCB protection and live in the city fringe (Gawler - about 45 mins from Adelaide, technically still in the metro area).
The online quotation asked me questions I've *NEVER* been asked before -
Do you drink alcohol (at all)?
Do you drive your car to work?
Where is your car parked during the day (garage/private lot/public lot/street?)
What is the postcode of your place of work?
I think the alcohol q is a bit intrusive, could they *really* justify that this alters the risk?
People on this forum criticed the dealer fee that Audi Dealers get, but in actual fact this is no different to what any insurance broker gets paid. When you go direct to an insurer, they keep the fee themselves.
