Holden will take the wraps off the latest and liveliest addition to its strong-selling Astra range, the SRi Turbo, at the upcoming Melbourne Motor Show. The individually styled 2.0 litre, 147kW Astra SRi Turbo hatch is due to hit Holden showrooms in the second quarter. Coming hot on the heels of the recently released 2003 SXi and CDX Astra models, it gives sports performance enthusiasts another enticing option at the top end of this comprehensive and deservedly popular model range.

Like its naturally aspirated SRi stablemate, the turbocharged Astra 3-door will appeal to buyers who appreciate a blend of exclusivity and exciting driving dynamics. An inspiring entry into the hot hatch segment, it delivers the goods in terms of stand-out styling with sports body kit and spoiler and high specification levels, including heated seats and black leather trim.

Astra Turbo's impressive engine torque curve produces an immediate response and sustained thrust across the speed range. Maximum torque of 250 Nm is available at a constant boost pressure of 0.85 bar between 1950 and 5600 rpm.

The Astra Turbo Dynamic Safety (DSA) sports chassis features firmer spring and shock absorber settings, a wider track, 17 inch alloy wheels, stronger brakes and a premium braking system.

While pricing will not be announced until closer to the release date, Holden says the Astra SRi Turbo will represent exceptional value for money within its market segment.

Try this web address. It is from The Times ( London ) review by Jeremy Clarkson, probably the UK's most famous/sarcastic/tough motoring writer. As you can see, Vauxhall ( aka Holden ) is not a loved brand over here.
