I'm looking to buy a new A4 Avant shortly, after being so very impressed with the total package over other wagons in the class (although I'm not sure of those standard alloys).

Has anyone had the 2.0 & Multitronic combo for a while? Any problems I should be aware of?

What about 'Dolphin Grey' paint? I love the colour, but wonder about maintenance. I don't have a garage but will be buying a car-cover of some sort.

I'd consider the 1.8TQ for its performance "capabilities" with a simple chip upgrade.

....even if the engine is a little underpowered.

I've had my 2.0 CVT sedan for 18 months now, and love it, but I am finding it a little slow.

I just had an A3 1.8 auto loan car, and that goes better around town than the 2.0 CVT.

Dolphin Grey is a great color, my next A4 will be Dolphin or maybe Atlas Grey. Trust me, the latter grows on you. I chose black, because I just *had* to have a black Audi at least once.

Be sure to order the aluminium sill trims, its only $400 but makes a huge visual difference to the car. I wish I did!

Thanks CVT - I agree the 2.0 + Multitronic are a little slow, but I'll cope I'm sure. I currently drive a V6 Suzuki 4WD and the A4 feels comparable if not better in acceleration.

I'm going to consider the aluminiumm sill trim again - looking at the brochure you may well be right! I'm also leaning towards a wheel upgrade as those standard alloys do nothing for me...

Did you get the Multifunction wheel with transmission controls?

BTW I'm hoping to upgrade mine to the new 120kW 1.8T engine soon. The 2.0 just doesnt have quite enough oomph at low speed.

Couldn't get the steering wheel controls, it would have meant a factory order, and I'd already spent about $12,000 on options :-(

I'm only looking at a set of 16" wheels so hopefully they are a little cheaper! If I go ahead with the purchase it will be an order...it's gonna be hell waiting 3 months for it to turn up!
