You seem to have some insatiable 'need' to prove your A3 (poverty pack) is better than everyone else's A4. What for? Are you feeling that inferior? Are you suffering from penis envy that badly? Or, are you just another young dumb fragrance model with a chip on his shoulder.
Let me point out a few facts for you.
Your A3 is front wheel drive with all the lovely front wheel drive problems - for example, axle tramp, wheel spin, understeer and poor traction.
Our A4's are ALL quattro - which negates 99% of the problems listed above.
Now lets look at the interior of the car - My TOP OF THE RANGE (no poverty pack here) is magnificent inside with leather, wood grain, sunroof, cruize, 10 stacker CD, and all the bells and whistles. And I can actually put stuff in the back! I can take my wife on a drive down the coast, fill up the boot with wine and still put 3 more ppl in the back seat (and there's room to breathe!)
Personally, I don't give a toss if your car is faster down the quarter mile strip. Your pathetic need to brag about the quarter mile times of your A3 is readily apparent in your instant dismissal of Lucas's 12.6 second A4 Screamer because its faster than your A3.
A SS commodore is faster than my A4 down the 400! But I don't care! I didn't buy my car for its quarter mile time. I bought it for the overall quality package it offers. If I was interested in quarter mile times I would have purchased a WRX and dropped 10K on it and run 11 second passes.
If you really must compare quarter mile times then look up the time slip database on this website where you will find a large amount of A4's which simply hand your ass to you in the quarter mile stakes.
So please, stop carrying on in such manner - Your just drawing attention to yourself as a shining example of mediocrity.
In fact, I'll bet the only reason you have an A3 is because you couldn't afford an A4! / S3. If you were really interested in a Fast 3 series Audi you would have bought a S3 for its Quattro advantage and 6-speed gearbox.
I suppose all of this is going to hit a bit close to the bone for you. And I hope the fact that I have used words with more than two syllables does not confuse you. If you would like me to explain it slowly please take this opportunity to retort - I expect nothing less.

I brought a S3 because I was jack of the front wheel drive issues and so on with the Golf GTi :)
Long Live Quattro!

I didn't know Audi sold cars to wankers...
There's nothing poverty about an optioned up A3 like XXX18T's car (or the A3 I drove for three years actually). My A3 had all the gear that you mention (ok, no woodgrain, but really...) and so does XXX18T's A3
Some people need a car that can carry three people in the back seat and a boot full of wine, but some don't! Different strokes for different folks :)
yet all your arguement seems to be based on is about how you think you have more money than XXX18T hence you drive supposedly better car than him!
Who's the one with the inferiority complex?
And before you start, the reason I didn't buy an S3 after my A3 is because I couldn't justify the $7k a year insurance premium, and I suspect XXX18T is in the same boat.
If I received an insurance renewal notice for $1700 for my unmodified car, I'd be nothing short of stoked! You have a *modified* A4 *Turbo* and you're complaining about it...
If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen
02-19-2003, 07:43 PM
as they have to keep justifying their cars.
02-19-2003, 08:07 PM
And u know what they say about that HAHAHAHAHA
As for me trying to prove my car is better im not proving its better it is better
As for describing my car as povo ur the one who is povo as im prolly half ur age (22) and i drive an Audi as a first car. Another thing i live in the best and most expensive city in Australia - Sydney. My car has all the options ur car has, if not more the only thing im missing is the wood ( but maybe since ur old u might not be able to get it up and then u like to be surrounded in fake wood)
U guys just got tushy cos i said ur cars lardy which is true.
I got nothing to prove and I could of bought an A4 but wanted something German, Turbo, with 2 doors.
Ur cars have the same engine as mine except im faster, just admit it and ill leave u Melb boys alone

Really? your car is better??? Please tell us all in what way? Is it the inferior front wheel drive system it uses? Or, is it the fact that you need to put the seats forward to get anything in the back?? I must be confused - I already pointed out none of us were interested in quarter mile times when we purchased our cars - So i fail to see "how your car is better".
As for being faster - well der.. I dont think anyone ever said otherwise! However, and as I pointed out above, there are plenty of A4's out there that will spank you - but your not interested in those right? After all, you couldnt possibly want to compare against anything that was faster than you!
You act (and write) like a 10 year old and certainly have the mentality and attitude to match. Im not surprised your 22 - typical snot nosed kid with attitude.
As for living in the most expensive city in Australia - congratulations. Again, im tipping that is by default. Born there by any chance?? I think so.
Im tipping you still live with your mommy and daddy as well :-) BWAHAHAHAHAH!
I am not about to indulge an arrogant, rude, immature and stuck-up brat with a wealth comparison - suffice to say you have a long way to go.
i would strongly suggest you think carefully before your next post - clear that dormant organ you keep hidden upstairs and write a thoughtful, well constructed reply.
Who knows??? You might surprise yourself!
02-19-2003, 08:56 PM
well I tried writing a thoughtful, factual, and well constructed reply earlier, and all I got back from you was a crappy one liner
first you tell XXX18T he has a POVERTY PACK Audi, then you say you don't want to get involved in a wealth comparison...
02-19-2003, 09:26 PM
And i have 2 jobs, i dont need to compete with u Melb guys all u are good for is ur artsy fartsy pretty signatures - u guys have a talent in being stupid and in drawing - i am happy for u shame u have no taste in wheels.
U know what they say u cant buy class no matter how much u earn.
Have a nice day Girlz

A thoughtful, tactful response??? Surely not!
Lets examine it shall we?
Your first comment was:
"I didn't know Audi sold cars to wankers... "
Well I can tell a lot of thought went into that! Tactuful?? I think not!
Your next comment was:
"There's nothing poverty about an optioned up A3 like XXX18T's car (or the A3 I drove for three years actually). My A3 had all the gear that you mention (ok, no woodgrain, but really...) and so does XXX18T's A3"
The 'Poverty' comment was thrown in to the mix to dip more flies in the ointment. It obviously worked. And no - you don't have all the 'gear' we do. You're missing the post important aspect - "QUATTRO".
You then said:
"Some people need a car that can carry three people in the back seat and a boot full of wine, but some don't! Different strokes for different folks :) "
This was thoughtful and insiteful!Well Done!
But then... you came out with another pearler:
"Yet all your argument seems to be based on is about how you think you have more money than XXX18T hence you drive supposedly better car than him! "
Now, how did you so badly manage to misinterpret my comments? Where did I say I have more money than him? And who really cares? I sure don't! I was trying to keep the debate (for lack of a better word) on track - would you want to discuss your finances on a public forum? And, yes - The A4 1.8TQMS is a better car than the A3. Why do you think it costs more?
And the gems keep coming:
"And before you start, the reason I didn't buy an S3 after my A3 is because I couldn't justify the $7k a year insurance premium, and I suspect XXX18T is in the same boat."
I just got off the phone to Audi Insurance - $1700 a year for a 29-year-old rating 1 driver for a brand new S3. Sounds to me like your make believe figure of 7K is a justification for not buying an S3 (a very poor justification).
And then a real show of poor observation skills:
"If I received an insurance renewal notice for $1700 for my unmodified car, I'd be nothing short of stoked! You have a *modified* A4 *Turbo* and you're complaining about it... "
Do you ever bother to even look at who makes what post? I never complained about my insurance premium! That was Black A4TQ.
And then to Close:
"If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen"
I'll assume this is your way of signing off and leave it at that. Not very well thought out or constructed now was it? Tactful? I doubt you know the meaning of the word.
You know the really funny thing about all this? The longer it goes on, the more yourself and XXX1.8T show your lack of ability to hold a grammatically correct, sensible and mature discussion. I am sure this will provoke another `ripper' of a response - so please consider the forum yours! I am dying in anticipation to see you plunge the depths of mediocrity. Please don't disappoint me!
02-19-2003, 09:51 PM
OK, I confused you two guys - all I can say is that I should have paid more attention. Thought I was still talking to Black A4TQ, though this forum leaves a bit to be desired in the functionality stakes - nevermind.
I'm yet to see any decent posts come from Black A4TQ though, the person who the debate is actually aimed at... hmmmmm
As for this S3 business, none of it is make believe, though I bloody wish it was! If you wanted to compare apples with apples you would have called Linda Gleave at Audi Insurance and asked for a quote for a 23 year old male living in Sydney with a 30% NCB and the figure would have been NOWHERE near $1700. If it was, I would be driving one! She told me if I had 60% NCB I could get it down to $3500, until I turned 25, at which point it would drop again.
In the end I coughed up $3500 to insure a fully optioned new Cooper S... Hopefully I'll be able to drive an Audi S car one day soon...
02-19-2003, 10:45 PM
You seem to be wasting a lot of time proving nothing.

That would explain the 'mod' bug :)
02-20-2003, 12:44 PM

I think youre all a bunch of wankers...sure my response may not be tactful, and my 99 A3 1.8t is only standard, non modified, but for f*$ks sake, its a frikkin Audi...consider urselves lucky to be driving ANY of their cars, nomatter how many days u work a week, or how smart u work...theyre all wicked cars....and they **** all over most cars u can buy standard...so lets everyone be happy with what weve got hey??
