Happy Holidays everyone. FYI there's a comparo between the A4(1.8t cvt) and 9-3 in the January edition Wheels magazine. Reading between the lines, the Audi seems to just edge out the 9-3. One interesting thing was the mention of steering rack rattle/clunking in the A4 when going over bumps with lock on the wheel. I've had this since day one (1.8tmq)but haven't had the time to take it to the dealers yet. Anyone else with a B6 A4 have the same problem/know of a fix?

The usual situation is going quickly around the corner at an intersection with corrugations on the road. There's a "thud, thud" noise coming from the steering rack or driver's side front suspension. Heard rather than felt. Worse some days than others. Doesn't seem to be temperature related. Worse with higher tire pressures.
Did a search on the forum and similar problems seem due to tie rods/control arms/loose stuff under the dash. Hopefully the dealer can sort it out when I get a chance to go there.
