For those who dont know the saga of my 18" wheels - Took nearly six months to get these 18" Oz SL's into the country after ordering them - I am told by the importer they are the only set in Aust. for an A4. - Finally the rims got here and I took them to get the rubber fitted. Tyre place wrecked one of the wheels by lowering a hoist on it - pushed about a 1/2" inch section out of the lip, rendering the rim next-to useless. I spat the dummy big time at them (there was much swearing and gesticulating on my behalf) A quick phone call to the importer and he priority couriered another rim over from Austria for me in 4 four days at the tyre places exepense (Cost them an absolute **** load for the rim and freight). So I had 4 perfect rims which I had paid for + the damaged rim. I fitted Falken ST-115 rubber to the four perfect rims and have been wrapped with the wheels and tyres ever since.
I kept the 5th damaged rim and took it to be repaired at Mag Wheel Centre so I could use it as the spare (nice to have a spare 18"!). They had it for a month, took them 2 weeks to get it repaired and another 2 weeks in painting (it had to go to Sydney for colour matching - this wheel has really had the round the world trip!) and I finally got it back today. Rim is absolutely perfect - Colour match is spot-on and no sign that the rim had ever been damaged. They really did a magnificent job repairing the rim) Total repair bill $350 + $305 for another Falken ST115 for the rim. Only gripe.. they quoted me $200-$250 for rim repair. Given they did such a good job I really shouldnt whinge about the extra $.
So the Saga finally comes to a close...(and I'm happy:-)
