Damn, I wish I'd ordered the aluminium window sill trim on my 2001 A4. It really lifts the external appearance of the car. Standard on V6 models, it's only $400 on 4 cyl models.

When I asked my dealer, I expected that they'd be able to order the trim pieces as spare parts and figured on double the price of the factory option by the time they'd fitted them.

Firstly the spare parts dept and salesperson told me I should speak to the other. Eventually the service dept shrugged their shoulders and claimed that -

1. The trim pieces are not available as a spare part.

2. You could get it done by someone like quattro Gmbh but it would cost "several thousand" dollars.

Obviously this is crap. It would *have* to be available as a spare part. Otherwise, how would a crash repairer be able to get replacment parts if it was damaged in an accident?

I think my dealer regarded the inquiry as too much trouble.

These spare parts guys are just slack AH. I've had these problems before as soon as I find the part numbers its too easy.

http://www.amtuning.com.au</a

He can get anything and knows what he is talking about. He's in Melbourne but he can ship to anywhere.

You should try again sometimes your thread will be missed. So Are you in SA? only one dealer and they have the attitude to match. Although since I've been buying lots of parts from them they seem to have warmed up a little, still have to keep stoking the fire every once in a while.

On the whole they've been pretty good, not nearly as cocky as the only BMW dealer :-)

I've heard good and bad stories about them, but my experience so far is good.

They're certainly way better than any Ford or Holden dealer I've dealt with. I originally intended to buy a VX SS Commode but got sick of being stuffed around by Holden dealers.

Cool, its nice to know I'm not the only one from SA. Good luck with the window sills. I'd love to see how that multitronic goes. Maybe one day we should grab a coffee and compare notes.
