Thanks to Jeff for leading the pack and giving us a tour of the Marin backroads. Also to Ben for keeping an eye out for the rest of us. Great putting faces to AW handles- Brooks, Haw, Brent, Sia, Ben, & Jeff. We really need to get an earlier start next time to avoid road hazards. =P Enjoy the pics...

1. WTH are "spider spikes"? Some evil wheel theft deterrent device?

2. I was a little surprised to see that everyone was running stock Avus wheels. Does nobody out there in the bay area run dubs?! ;P

Salaries here are correspondingly high. So maybe if you moved here you afford to live here...

The DPT mounts it to your rim so it can apply The Boot to one of your wheels. Penalty for many unpaid fines/citations.

No, not many people go for the bling factor around here. Not sure why. The only place I see 20"+ rims is in the really rough areas of the city--areas where one such rim costs ten times more than one's unemployment/welfare check.

Good job Patrick! Yes, I agree we start a bit earlier next time. I've been thinking of a few more roads and if anyone else would like to lead, give it a go! Perhaps you guys up here in Norcal have a few suggestions on other great roads where we can let these cars fly! I'm game for the 27th. By the way, did you get some some good vid?

have 19" Champion Motorsport RF33s. I love em...they look awesome, are strong, and lightweight.

Can't do 19s here; they'd be egg-shaped within 24 hours.

1. http://www.spike-spider.com - a different way of implementing snow chains/cables. In this case, they only snap onto that black center disk and provide outer tire traction which CalTrans accepts as 'chains'. A lot easier and faster to put on and off. And when the metal traction nubs wear down, the owner can just replace with a new one.

2. As for the dubs, the weather forecast was clear on the weekend, but raining for the rest of the week, so I didn't want to put the summer wheels on too early. And it looked cool that everyone was rolling on their stock Avus'. The only cars that stood out were the nogaro avant and red sedan.

When the weather gets warmer, I'll take better pics of these:

I was kidding about the dubs, of course; just thought it was odd that everyone was running Avuses (Avi?) when wheels are usually the first mod anyone makes.
