Here is the first official look at the revised A4. Obviously a lot more subtle than what it sounded like. We have a few more photos posted on our forums in the news section. We will have the full story and more information tomorrow.
Cheers,
-jamie

VWvortex Forums

What's different ... other than the addition of fog lights? I guess I'll have to see a side by side comparison.

Actually in the rear picture, you can see the
badges have been moved from the lid of the tail
to either side of the number plate.
and the lights do look different in front.
obviously there are clear side markers which
look nice.
Robert

Pretty minor changes. I'm sure in real life the headlights will be a bit more noticable.
Check out the 3rd pic on the VWVortex site. The badging is moved from the upper part of the trunk to the sides of the license plate on the silver car. (you have to look closely) Interesting!
JohnS
Also, no headlight washers? Looks the same otherwise.
CraigB

Looks like the A4 will have HID option in the future to compete with BMW...
Dmak 1.8TQMS

I think that the clear corners may be standard in Europe, it will be interesting if they will be clear for the US.
Matt

I wonder if we'll be able to get the driving lights as an aftermarket item?

I guess if they are going to have the car with the new headlights in the U.S than you can definitely get the headlight units for it through the dealers.. Why not wait and opt for the Xenon unit...
Dmak 1.8TQMS
Ironically it looks more like the new Passat (which it shares a platform with.) I think the current car looks better but overall the new car looks very similiar. I agree though, people tend to overeact to new photos.

The front and rear bumbers have character lines (slight crease), the headlight washer nozzles are no longer on the hood, the side markers are different shape, there are no key-hole, near as I can tell, on the driver door handle (could just be the photo), and then what's been said -- headlights, fog/driving lights, rear badges.
Rob O
I found pics in the latest issue of European Car that look totally different. The pictures I saw made the car look just like a baby A6. The caption mentioned year 2000. They're not going to do another so soon are they ??

It looks like there is a recessed area in the front bumper for the European sized plate. The U.S. version will have a U.S. sized area, I assume, or not be recessed at all like the current car.

Likes:
1.) New headlights and fog lights positioned down below
2.) Character lines-slight "creases" in bumpers
3.) Lower and longer reverse lights
4.) Windshield washer jets no longer on hood
Dislikes:
1.) New placement of badges on rear
2.) Larger shape of side marker
3.) No keyhole on door? If true, don't like relying on remote!
4.) Larger, A6-style, door handles
Well, it's a "draw". I'm still happy w/my 99', or at least just justified why I should be! ;)
JT 99' 1.8Tqms

Looks to me that the side molding is slightly thicker than it presently is.
Tom
1.8TQMS Silver/Ecru

I don't like the badges in that new location, looks out of place. I guess they are moving the badges down to mimic the A6. Did they move the badges down on the updated A8?
Other than that...why go through the trouble of changing the bumpers and lights when most people won't notice?
Christian J. Long
