Im suprised, When on the phone with them they said the official release is friday alot more about the car will be out then. Oh well, so far this is the first ball they have fumbled on the release of this car, only gonna hold it against them for like 5 minutes or so...

Hardly first fumble, I seem to remember pricing was going to have been released back in May, or so they said, but that didn't happen on time either.

Cars are on the showroom floors now and are being sold, but there is NO official literature or information available yet? No brocures, now website info, not even corrected window stickers on the cars I've seen. Pretty pathetic.

I was pretty impressed, they are going to take the hit themselves they think but, AOA wouldnt send them updated stickers and they were not about to inconvinence their clients.

I just found more respect for my dealer when they told me they did that. The possibility of $3400 right there that they might have to eat and they didnt want the buyers to have to wait any longer so even if they had to eat it in the long run they were willing to do it to keep them happy. Thats gotta be worth something in any potential buyers book.

The waiting in the dark sucked but it was all worth it in the end.

So those people will get a nice, ugly bill for $1,700 (to be paid in one huge payment) to cover the GG tax.

Gas guzzler tax is federal. The $ doesn't go to the state, and DMVs are state agencies. They aren't in the business of collecting taxes for Uncle Sam. I strongly believe that if buyer gets a car without paying the gas guzzler tax at time of purchase, that buyer is off the hook. The federal government WILL collect the tax from AoA; so the question becomes whether AoA foots the bill or passes it along to the dealer in question.

It's a Federal Tax, so the IRS will collect this from either AoA or the dealership.

I called 2 different dealers and the General Managers weren't sure either, but their thoughts fell along the same line... that either AoA or the dealership themselves would have to eat the cost.

And I think its nice that the dealer felt the need to get the cars to their owners even if they ended up eating the Bill. Which they seem to have no problem with (it also might have had something to do with it was both of theirs 5+ audi and both were trading in other S's all bought at this dealer). Anyway you look at it, they went above and beyond.

Just bought a Silver/Ebony 6sp last night! I did NOT like having to pay the GG tax. What's EPA definition of when a car becomes a GG? Must not apply to SUVs. Can you write this off on your IRS tax return?

If AoA puts out the word to all dealers to charge the g/g tax - and a dealer doesn't charge it - the dealer eats it. If AoA doesn't get the word out, then it's AoA's responsibility. And since the cars came from AoA with the incorrect Moroney stickers, the burden is on AoA to correct the problem.

I dunno I know SUV's and SUV Like cars (allroad applys) are exept. Which is BS. My mom is looking at getting a Land Cruiser and it gets a 16 MPG Average!!
