I've heard that the alcantara wears out fast and that the light colored leather tends to get dirty and wear out really easily. That's why I have plain ol' black in my A4 (well, and because I like it).

my belt stained the material and it started to 'ball' up at places. I think it's great as an accent (shift boot, door trim etc), but should stay off high traffic areas.

However, I highly doubt it'll wear out "fast". The blue alcantara in my car looks as clean as the day I took delivery, and shows no signs of wear. The leather surrounding it looks much more worn.

I've seen alcantara seats from early 90s cars and it holds up great if it's a dark color. Light colored fabrics (and leathers, too) are just gonna get grimy with age, I think.
