View Full Version : I know that this might be getting ahead, but for easy mods could we chip the car to S8 power + ? Torsen1 09-27-2002, 03:28 PM How hard/possible would this be? Auto Union Jack 09-27-2002, 06:16 PM "The V8 engine with its displacement of 4.2 litres has been revised for maximum power, starting with optimised intake paths and low-friction roller cam followers for the valve gear and extending to adapted timing for the variable intake camshafts and a two-stage switchable-flap intake manifold. These improvements and innovations add up to a rated power of 265 kW (360 bhp) at 7,000 rpm and an impressive maximum torque of 420 newton-meters, available from just 3,400 rpm." With 90% of peak torque available from 2,000 rpm. :) Auto Union Jack 09-28-2002, 08:52 AM

http://www.mtmonline.de/English/A8/s8_470.htm</a

AudiOx 09-28-2002, 09:04 AM Auto Union Jack 09-28-2002, 09:43 AM Torsen1 09-28-2002, 12:31 PM Auto Union Jack 09-28-2002, 01:04 PM modification. They have really lost a lot in sale profits via warranty costs in the U.S. with the turbo motors secondary to the aftermarket. Many are confirming the twin turbo 4.2 RS4 for 2004, but the NA option with FSI up to 400HP is being closely examined as the better option to keep AoA dealerships' service bays less filled, warranty costs down, and to promote a non-adversial customer/service manager relationship. It will be interesting to see if Plan B happens. :) |
