I've noticed for a while that there is a really bad clanking sound coming from inside the dash.It sounds like some bit of metal is loose and it's bashing against something else. Anyway that combined with creaking between the roof and the windscreen surround, makes the car sound like an old banger (what we brits call a wreck)! Unfortunately the dealer won't be able to do anything until September as the whole of France goes on holiday until August :(

that the tool used to manually put up the top if the motor breaks, was causing some noise. the tool is located on the drivers side.

just a guess!

I remember reading about that tool in the manual and it's where the noise is coming from so will check it when I get home from work. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Try removing the T-handled tool for manual top operation from behind the dash. That should cure your dash rattle. Did me. If that's the problem,
put a piece of vaccume hose around the end to hold the tip of tool steady and quiet. Then replace it in it's original local.
