heres a shot of the European rear conversion. The carectere piece for the Euro-spec bumper is made out of OEM quality urathane and is a direct replacement (no cuttin/gluing or any mods) Its a full two inches shorter than the American bumper which shortens the car overall (i always thought it was too long) and gives it an Audi TT look at the rear. The pipes stick out and extra two inches as well (not sure everyhting is street legal but whos gonna pull me over for this)

Only probelm with the rear conversion is that i had to get the European crash support. You crazy Europeans who may be reading this don't value life much as the European crash support is half the weight and looks like it could be crushed by a Yugo. The American support is longer - stronger and looks like it can take much more puinishment. I hope no-body hits me (an Excursion would drive right up my ass!!!)

AHHHH the price of vanity!!!

next mod - Im ordering a European Navigation plus double din unit. Ill keep it posted

Got any "before" photos? I'm from the UK so it just looks normal to me, wondered what the US version looked like?

Ari.

I'll post a picture. It was fairly ugly and you don't notice that until you do the conversion. Imagine your bumper sticking out an extra 2" inches. It ruins the lines of the car but, there is a safety issue. The US spec crash support is a hydraulic pump that absorbs the impact force caused by a rear collision. It looked like a pretty expensive system to produce. The European unit is nothing more than a hollow aluminum box with dimples that collapse to absorb the impact. The actual crash support bumper weighs easily twice as much, is twice as thick, and 2" longer with more crumple zones.
Threes no doubt that the US system is much more effective than the Euro but, how much damage can a polo or a Peugeot 206 cause. Here, we have to worry about Hummers and Excursions driven by 5 foot tall moms talking on their cell-phones.
Also, our headlights are uglier than **** :)

just taken a look at my black 3.0 sport and my rear bumper is the same as your "stubbie". Guess you Yanks must have bigger arses than us in europe :-)
