Well, friends, my 3.0 Cab has been in the shop since Weds. I bet the service rep he'd have it for a week to a month. The reason(s)?
1. A "clunking" noise when turning on an incline or decline (like into a driveway, etc.). I'm no Miss Cleo, but it sounds like a bad CV Joint.

2. A jolting / jerking feel from the engine when accelerating from a stop or low RPM's. Almost feels like someone tapped your back bumper.

3. Driver's seat won't move up or back (and got stuck far back - thank goodness I'm tall enough).

The mechanics are in touch w/ Audi tech people. So far they are baffled. Tried replacing a rubber tranny mount (didn't help). They will now clear the PCM (?) and "reinstall" it when the new disc arrives.

Anyone had similar experiences? Especially w/ #1 & #2. The car is not yet 6 mo. old though it has 6000 mi. I drive a lot but never harshly. My other problems so far has been the failed top sensor which they replaced.

Oh well, at least I got an A6 rental!

Best regards,
Jill

It sounds like the transmission to me. This is a fairly new tranny so maybe the engineers aren't quite sure how to figure the problem out yet. Sometimes the simplest thing ...

I hope they fix it for you--!

I've had clunking whilst turning up/down gradients and after three attempts they changed the transmission mounting's which cured it for a week but there back again so it's going back in next week.....

I'd have them look into that before it leaves the shop.

Thanks for the info. Let's keep eachother posted on the outcomes. I've printed threads from this board & brought them in to my dealer when a problem stumpped them.

Best regards,

Jill

Though my convertible isn't an A4 (I have a New Beetle Convertible), I do know that VW/Audi has Karmann work on the top/car structures for both cars, so there are some definite similarities in how VW/Audi compensated for the lack of a roof.

I too get the same strange clunking noises whenever I make a turn on a slope, etc. I also hear the noise whenever one of the wheels goes over decent sized bump; aka a situation that torsionally twists the body. Since both my car and the A4 cab have very similar body bracing structures, I'm wondering if it's the same flaw?!?
