I have heard a lot of discussion about poeple programming thier remote controls to change the way things happen - like unlocking drivers or all doors at once. I was wondering what other things can be programmed on them?

I am interested in automatic locking when the vehicle reaches a certain speed. I live in the UK and my partner has a Renault Clio which has this feature and I think it's a brilliant idea.

On another note, I take delivery of my Cab in March 2003 and I don't fully understand what the DIS is. Does it include a trip computer for average fuel consumption, miles travelled etc ... Is it controlled by the buttons on the instrument surround or by a button in the stalk?

Thanks in advance for any replies :-)

There are a couple of central locking features programmable by your dealer.

Auto locking. Locks the doors once the speed has past 15mph, and keeps them locked for the duration of the journey, unlocking them when you remove the key from the ignition. Two pulls of the interior door open pull will over ride and unlock the individual door. Also the interior central locking button over rides it.

The other feature is whereby one press of the unlock on the key fob only unlocks the drivers door, two presses unlocks everything.

DIS is indeed the trip computer (Driver Information System) and you can scroll through average speed, average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel consumption, time run, and range on current fuel tank contents. This is scrolled through by a button on the end of the wiper stalk (up or down) and reset by pressing and holding the button on the underside of the stalk in the function chosen. Another useful feature I didn't realise existed for a long time is that one quick press of the reset button will turn the DIS off. Useful on a long dark motorway drive for reducing distracting lighting.

All this is correct for my current Audi A3, but having used one I'm pretty certain that the Cabrio functions in the same way.

Thanks so much for your answers :)

When I next speak to my dealer, I will make sure the auto locking function has been activated
