Cost-wise here are the MSRP figures for the 330 cic and the A4 Cab I bought, not including TTL:
330 cic
base 43595
paint 475
premium package 800
auto trans 1275
delivery 700
subtotal 46845

A4 Cabriolet
base 41500
paint 450
premium package 1475
sport package 750
heated seats 450
leather 1500
bose sound 650
delivery 660
Subtotal 47435

Basically you get a much better equipped vehicle with the Audi. Both cars are VERY similar in features such as the lever for the conv top box, climate controls and interior trim, glass rear window, etc. One area that Audi has a clear edge is the Bose sound - the Harmon Kardon sound in the BMW is decidedly inferior to the Bose and it's not cheap either. Next you have to think about negotiating and the BMW dealer I talked to was very up front that they do not discount much if at all. I did manage to negotiate successfully with the Audi dealer. Finally, there is the financing and Audi has several good low rates depending on the term, BMW had nothing - just the going market rate. Seems pretty clear to me unless you just really want that round BMW badge and are willing to pay for it. Aesthetically, I should add that the A4 Cab is much more pleasing to my eye than the 330 which seems kind of angular and square-ish (purely personal taste here).

Agree about the looks. I looked at a 3 Series Cab after looking at an A4 Cab and it did look a bit angular and dated in comparison.

That said, the BMW probably offers a sharper drive and of course is RWD.

I was looking a little lower down the scale so can't compare with 325/330i, but the 1.8T was both cheaper and more powerful than equivilent 318i, although things like Accoustic park and cruise were standard on the BMW, extra on the Audi.

Should add that this is in the UK.

I have the Audi today, but had the BMW Cab. before. The Audi is a beauty to watch, but the BMW is a much better driving car.
The BMW handles better, suspension is prefect ( compared to the hard/uncomfortable Audi set-up), and the overall impression is near perfect in the BMW.
I still have big problems understanding the Audi suspension. It is not set-up for sport but for cruising. Anyway it is so hard and stiff in the city, and on Highway at over 100, it is jumping around.

Otherwise the Audi, is just a beauty.

I have ordered my A4 Cabriolet without the Sport pack. The ride is sooooooo much better - still paid out £500 for the sports seats though as they are the best.

As I just drive my car at a leisurely pace, I am not bothered about pin-sharp handling, much prefering comfort.

As for the looks - the BMW looks so dated with it angular pram-like hood mechanism showing through.
