Can anyone explain why Audi decides to eliminate the sunglass holder on the US A4 Cab? The trim piece is there, but it doesn't open. One prospective customer broke the piece on the showroom floor model...thinking that it was stuck.
Dealer says they were told that US market won't get it...even though its' in the US brochure.

I don't have an answer to your question, but I saw something that you mind find of interest. When I examined Audi of Alexandria's first A4 Cab being prepped for display, the sunglass holder was sitting on the front seat. The salesman said that they were going to install the sunglass holder before the car went on display. Perhaps it is supposed to be installed by US dealers, and your dealer is either being lazy or for some reason has not received any yet (and is trying to prevent you from going elsewhere where they do have them).

After posting my other message, I noticed your post below that shows photos of the very car at Audi of Alexandria that I saw. On second thought, the dealer may have broken the sunglass holder themselves and not wanted to admit it. At any rate, something doesn't make sense.

I bought my A4 Cab from Rockville Audi in MD. Every car, including mine, had the same issue with the "sunglass holder". I could care less about not having a holder..but that dash area is alot of dash "real estate" that could be used for something.
My sales guy told me that US market won't get it...per their training in Annapolis, MD last week.
Go figure....

I guess so I wouldn't break it! There are various other options not included that are described in North American manual. In particular, the lack of tiptronic controls on the multifunction steering wheel - though that one wasn't a surprise like the lack of the sunglasses holder. I'll survive.
It was discussed a week ago here (look down some threads)...
Components that can open (think flying material), get submitted to DOT for review and compliance. For whatever reason, the sunglass component was not part of the cab submittal, and had to be deleted. I think it was just oversight. I would suspect this will be the first hot NA mod, as folks start bugging our UK/Euro brethren to get the parts necessary to install it. I bet it can be done retroactively...
Audi on!
