It is my understanding that the only reason that Audi is not releasing 6 speed tranny to the US is they feel the market share will be too small. Is that insane?? There is at least one post with a 6 speed tranny for the German market. Is that car coming here for the 2004 model year??
My dealor has confirmed that quattro will come the following year hopefully with a 6 speed tranny. He and I think even though its weight will adversly affect acceleration, the quattro will be the major sales leader as in the TT quattro 225.
It would be nice if Audi figured out the the perfect combo would be an S4 Quattro 6 speed tranny with a turbo 6 cylinder to make up the diffence in weight. Audi, ARE YOU LISTENING??
In any event, I plan to use the car for all seasons, (as Audi has advertised the car) and I feel that Quattro is an absolute necessity for 4 season use with winter and high performance summer tires!
