I have a 1998 A6 2.8 quattro automatic transmission, with a recently replaced motor engine. The problem i'm having is that the 2nd to 3rd gear and 3rd to 4th skips while changing...the engine raves high before the shift. Does anyone have an idea what may be causing this and or solutions???

this sounds rather fimilar to problems i had been having on my 99.5 1.8T QA, i am still not certain with the cause of the porblems. bascilly if you drove it hard it was ok, if you drove lets say in town doing rather slower acceleration it would jump out of gear. Then i would have to remove my foot from the pedal to let the engine rev down and would eventually cath the next gear. for it did this in both drive and tip (not sure what the A6 has). was your engien replacement done by a dealership or someone independent i ask bec some indepent shops do not have the diagnostic equipment a dealership might have. The solution i found was that i had miss adjusted the trothle cable, after readjusting and reseting all the computers she ran fine and still does today.
