I am changing the CV boot on my b5 s4. It is a straight forward and simple fix, save for a ridiculously stubborn bolt that holds the upper linkage arms' ball joints into the main control arm. You basically have to destroy the bolt in order to get it out. So I called around for replacement parts; one bolt and one nut.

Parktown knew what part I needed straight away and gave me the price of $2 something for the bolt and $1.05 for the nut.

Plaza took a while to find the part, but were very courteous and said 'sir' a lot. They priced the bolt at $3.70 and the nut at $1.50.

you should go there buy one then take it to the hardware store to get the other.

I took out the half axle by an alternative method. So I didn't need to remove that bolt. I did need a new washer seal for the inner cv joint. No one in town had it so it had to be ordered. Although it ended up being $17 with shipping and tax for a part that isn't worth a third of that, Plaza was able to have it shipped overnight. Parktown was not able to get it until Monday. The prices are high, but in a pinch, Plaza can help.

My car is back to 100% btw. Now I just need to get my nav installed and it will be good to go. Road trip! :)

It is actually rather complicated in my case, as I have opted for the nav that originally came with my car. So I have to run an obscene amount of wires.

If I would have gotten a newer nav, then I could have gotten a kit and followed the online instructions.

But by all means, if you want to get a feel for what nav components need to be hooked up where, I will let you know when I start on it.
