this last tank i bought has made my car run like complete crap.
Its almost like i'm running 89 octane because of the detonation i'm getting. I'm waiting for this tank to flush out and hopefully the next tank isn't so bad.
just wondering if anyone else has noticed a decrease in performance lately... especially if it seems to stem from the gas you last purchased.

I even tried an octane booster (not that that helps lol) but it got even WAY worse!

My past two tanks have been from QT and I've had no problems. I even put a good 200 miles on the car this weekend (but havent driven since monday evening).

And the problem is temperature since the car runs really strong in the morning on the way to work when it's 65 degF out, but becomes a dog in the afternoon, which is the reason I want to try some Torco to see what happens.
Is Torco the stuff you were telling me about during our last conversation? I thought you were talking about the small 104+ octane boost that places like Pep Boys carries.

I haven't hit full boost at all this week because of it.
The stuff I used is sold across the street from road atlanta and i believe is a VP fuels additive. I don't believe its something you'd find in pepboys or autozone. I may have not noticed a big difference because of my earlier timing issue... i haven't run it since i fixed the timing.

for octane or water content, along with other stuff.
Usually comes from purchasing gas from a place that doesn't empty its tank often enough, along with other reasons.
Wherever you got your gas from last, you should report them. If nothing else, maybe the GA body that governs it can test it. Tons of fines were handed out. I think one place was fined 6 times!

is MPT, or anything that contains MPT. Not that it's good for your spark plugs, but it might help in this case. I believe NOS has it, along with Outlaw something or other.

im in atlanta and haven't noticed anything unusual, other than obscene 93oct prices

http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html</a

They recommended (and they said that Audi recommended) Shell V-Power. I've always used Chevron 93 Octane, but I'll switch for a while.

again... could have been my timing issue which kept me from noticing any gains.

Torco Additive

I want to make sure that I don't go there. I stopped using QT and switched to Shell a long time ago and noticed slightly better results in mileage.

I'll do some timing logs before and after to see if there's any improvement. Seems like the Subie folks like it.

I would run a bottle of Techron with my next fill up.

Because QT is the only brand of gas that I do use.
->Top-Tier rated
->Cheap
->Lots of business (less water in gas)

Have we all gone so high-brow or is it just so obvious that commenting on it would be considered juvenile?
Oh well.... guilty as charged.
Have a good Mem weekend ya'll.

About to weeks ago I was feeling like I didn't have enough power.. then, I'm sitting at a light one day and my car starts stumbling (like it's about to die). I had lack of power all over the place and when I tried to put my foot into it I got missfire.
I thought "Great, now it looks like I've got a bad coil and I've got to go through some lengthy tests to try and find it." But, I thought to myself... Hmm, lemme try and put in a tank of gas from a place I know has good gas and drive on it for a while just to be sure it's not bad gas... So, filled up at either the BP or Chevron in Dunwoody... Problems went away entirely and haven't had them come back since.
Looks like I did get a bad tank of gas, but not sure where I filled up (I think somewhere in Decatur).
Anyways, hopefully that was it. But, pisses me off when I'm shelling out well over $3.00 per gallon! BASTARDS!

I'm taking my 3.0 in this week for what will be the third time in 5 months with misfires and CEL. The first two times they kept it for more than a week, didn't change anything, and gave it back to me with a shrug and the apparently now standard "bad gas." Funny that this Audi would be experincing bad gas so often and my other A4 and my Passat seem to be immune.
I think it is also hillarious that they recommend Shell V Power to solve the problem - isn't Shell the title sponsor on the R10 ALMS car as well as their co-partner in developing the next-gen diesel products?
