Issued at: 10:45 PM EST 1/29/05, expires at: 9:00 AM EST 1/30/05

Freezing drizzle advisory in effect until 9 am est Sunday.
A cold air mass will remain in place across north central georgia
overnight. Temperatures will remain generally between 30 and 32 degrees
overnight. While the significant freezing rain and sleet which plagued
the area earlier today has moved east out of this region, a moist
easterly flow will continue across this area overnight allowing for the
continuation of freezing drizzle much of the night. Additional ice
accumulations will be minor. However, significant ice accumulations of
1/4 to 1/2 inch already exist on trees, power lines, and many roads in
the area.
Travel conditions across this area will remain treacherous overnight and
travel across this region should be avoided if at all possible.
Temperatures will finally creep above freezing by mid to late morning
sunday, resulting in a gradual improvement to weather conditions by
afternoon.
A freezing drizzle advisory is issued when icing is expected in the
affected areas, but not enough to significantly disrupt travel or damage
trees and power lines. Instead, patches of ice will cause slick spots on
roadways and sidewalks. Walking and driving could therefore be
difficult, but not impossible.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in freezing drizzle situations, slow
down and allow extra time when traveling. Practice your winter safety
rules, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your car in case of
emergency.
Stay tuned to noaa weather radio and other local media for further
details or updates on this freezing drizzle situation.
