View Full Version : so who'll be the first to try doing donuts in a frozen parking lot?! selfproclaimedv8buff 01-29-2005, 09:48 AM it's about a once in four years chance that you get around here. j31izzle 01-29-2005, 12:07 PM too busy drifting and doing donuts to take videos. fun fun fun day. OldSchool AG 01-29-2005, 12:17 PM Hauling ass on GA400 on summer tires riding on ice blowing by me like I'm standing still. j31izzle 01-29-2005, 01:48 PM but yeah, I'm feeling you. OldSchool AG 01-29-2005, 02:40 PM I wanted to scream at all the AWD SUVs blowing by me (prolly on all-seasons) that 4 X 0 = 0!!! Oh well, me and the TT made it home unscathed. Just made a food run to Kroger... the huge parking lot was mostly an untapped world of fun... solid ice. The e-brake is your friend. =) RobC 01-29-2005, 02:47 PM My driveway is one big sheet of ice. Good thing it's level. On the way out of the neighborhood, I saw this Lexus LS400 sliding sideways down his driveway. Somehow he got it perpendicular. The main roads in my area weren't too bad, but intersections had a lot of slush and ice. As you mentioned, the Kroger parking lot is a lot of fun. Who needs an e-brake? Just turn the wheel and punch the throttle :P I couldn't help tapping into the power to get all 4 wheels spinning while just making my way down the road. No crazy stuff, just punch the throttle a little in 2nd and all 4 wheels start spinning :D. I looked at I-85 southbound at Old Peachtree/Sugarloaf and it was not looking good. Must be lots of black ice out there since I saw more than one car spinning in circles in the left lane. It was actually neat to watch, but I'm sure it's no fun when there are others out there spinning out of control with you. GeneralLeeA4 01-29-2005, 03:52 PM ...from making a quick run to feed my friend's cats. I'm in Dunwoody, and she's in Roswell, so I got to make the trek from Mt. Vernon to Abernathy to Roswell Rd. all the way to her house. The roads were mostly fine for me, but, man, this weather really reminds you how stupid Atlanta drivers are. I had several cars blow by me on Roswell Rd. like I was standing still. I was really tempted to find a spot for donuts, though. I did notice that the parking lots at the old Lucent building (corner of Abernathy and Roswell) had plenty of tire tracks. One of my idiot neighbors took a bucket of hot water to his windshield. He was lucky, and it didn't crack. Anyways, here's a few pics from today. It's hard to see how thick the ice is, so I guess it doesn't look too impressive. :) First, the kitties watching people try to clean their cars... Pic 1: Pic 2: --Mike JimR 01-29-2005, 03:53 PM I'd say that number rounds to == zero ==, it's so vanishingly small a percentage. qa4blake 01-29-2005, 04:12 PM A little spinning up my driveway and getting sideways in parking lots(Kroger). I was kinda nervous though, considering I have never had any experience in the ice/snow. Great fun. Hopefully I can take some pics/videos tomorrow. selfproclaimedv8buff 01-29-2005, 05:02 PM this is my first quattro car but man is it fun. found an empty lot that was untouched. i was doing circle after circle after circle. that could never get old. i tighten up only when somebody gets close to me b/c they may lose control and hit me, other then that, i'll be out there tommorow maybe making a cool video. gaijin 01-29-2005, 05:10 PM RobC 01-29-2005, 05:11 PM choppo 01-29-2005, 06:27 PM No power for hours trees and **** falling OldSchool AG 01-29-2005, 06:44 PM Got conveniently "snowed in" at a friend's place last night. Whoever gets it should buy it in this week or the next, then I will go pick up the S.
