One interesting point about this one is that there are no mention of maintenance, service and any other historical documents with the car. The seller did say something regarding car's original condition (exterior) but failed to touch on one of the points of collectable market, authenticity and documentations.

who is it registered to? I might know of someone in that area that could have a car like that.

Don't know specifics of that car though. If you want to email me, I can tell you if that is who I am thinking it could be.

and this one is certainly not worth $10k, but it's the seller's right to ask whatever he wants, of course. I'm sure if he's motivated he'll soften up.

or their history, even other Audi owners. Mines been called a SAAB, VW, CGT, etc, etc. Also the condition of these cars around the country varies from junk to garage queens. From stock to highly modified. All of which affects price. They can also be a huge money pit. Plus the buyer/seller issue as Cris said. I've seen so called "collector cars" you couldn't give me. Just watch the Barrett/Jackson auction on Speed Chanel. But a well maintained, sorted, reliable UrQ is one of the neatest cars there is IMHO. Thats why I've had mine for over ten years & it will never be for sale. Just some thoughts. :) :)

March 3, 1980 was when it all begun. 1st Place San Remo Rally in 1981; 1984 WRC - Manufacturers & Drivers title; 1st Place Hong Kong-Peking Rally in 1986; 7 Wins in IMSA-GTO Series in 1989; 7 National Supertouring Championships in 1996; 2001 Speed GT World Challenge - Manufacturers and Drivers title; 2003 Speed GT World Challenge - Manufacturers and Drivers title.

Audi Quattro is Audi and more so!

Actual mileage (may very) seems more like 100k+
I'm hoping to test drive it this week. I'll email you when I know more.

Seems kinda high but haven't seen it in person, might be worth it. But like anything, you get what you pay for.

It is a great car that pretty much started the quattro revolution. It has a very expansive racing history in rally. It doesn't share a lot of 4000/coupe parts as you might expect. ie. I tracked down 2 high pressure hoses for my friend's 83' and he spent around $800 for them, and they weren't found in the US. One came from Canada and the other from Europe. He spent $6500 for his which seemed about the same condition as this one, but he's put over $6500 in it to bring it up to restored condition. He's running around 225hp. If you are a major Audi enthusiast, this is the car to have in your collection, but I don't see it appreciating very quickly.

class from this one. Absolutely stunning, even that said, there's just not much market for these amongst collectors. Same deal with my '91 V8 5-speed. Very rare worldwide, one of 70-something in the US, and yet it's maybe worth $6K if it were perfect (which it's not).

history, rarity, technology & new cost, $35,000 to $38,000 in the early 80's,it's just amazing they're not worth any more than they are. May be a "collector car", certainly not an investment. I've spent more on mine maintaining it than I paid for it twelve years ago & it shows, & it was a good one to start with, but it's not worth any more. Something to think about for the would be UrQ buyers.
