View Full Version : DIY S4 timing belt change will soon be underway..... 311 01-13-2005, 12:06 PM Anyone in the Atlanta area have any of the special tools listed to do it? (Cam locking bar, etc.) RobC 01-13-2005, 12:23 PM I was going to chip in a few bucks and use it when I did my timing belt. 311 01-13-2005, 12:44 PM Is it possible to do it with just normal tools? RobC 01-13-2005, 01:41 PM I was going to do it when I have everything out for Stage 3. Talk to Dave (Octane 93). He's done it before on a 30-valve. JimR 01-13-2005, 06:02 PM I don't have the crankshaft lock. JimR 01-13-2005, 06:03 PM

Also, a post you might want to see. It's for an A6 2.8, but still lots of this applies to you.

311 01-14-2005, 05:29 AM octane 93 01-14-2005, 06:04 AM octane 93 01-14-2005, 06:05 AM OldSchool AG 01-14-2005, 01:28 PM I'd definitely use this, especially if this is your 1st time doing a t-belt on an Audi V6 engine. This ensures you are EXACTLY at TDC and that you don't accidentally move anything during the process. E-mail me if you want to borrow it for a day. octane 93 01-14-2005, 04:44 PM they are still sitting in my garage. i got the front suspension all the way apart before i realized that the threads on the two front shocks were flattened so much that the bolts wouldn't go on. did you know the threads were like that? they probably can be rethreaded but after finding that out I was less confident in the condition of the shocks so I just shelved them. JimR 01-15-2005, 05:02 AM But if I had it to do over again, I probably would. But clearly it wasn't a big deal. I really need to get this thing to you, with some $$. Kept thinking you'd show for a monthly g2g. 311 01-17-2005, 08:38 AM I wish you would have said something sooner. I feel bad if thats the case. |
