View Full Version : Mike, did you make it to RA yesterday? RobC 01-12-2003, 07:49 AM I just flew in on Friday from a business trip and couldn't make it out to the track. igofst 01-12-2003, 11:00 AM yeah, it was great fun. I had the only 4 door so I felt out of place. Aside from a GTS Viper, my car weighed the most out of everything there too. And on top of that, I had the only car that didn't have a rear wing/spoiler. It wasnt like a Panoz track day. Only about 20 of all cars there were street legal, and 15 of those 20 had slicks. JGriff and I had the only cars that weren't rear wheel drive. He was hauling in that little TT... I didnt run the last session b/c I didnt have enough gas so I timed him. All of his laps were well under 2 minutes. I had been trying to keep up with him all day, but it took so much effort that it wasn't worth it. I dont have the nutts to push my car that hard. What's a normal street car lap time there anyway? RobC 01-12-2003, 11:10 AM I did a 1:50 last time when it was dry, and that was towards the end of the day when the track was really hot and my tires were starting to slide around just a little. Just takes practice to get comfortable pushing the car. I'm able to get my rear end to rotate a little going into turn 1, but I try NOT to do that since I don't want to pay the odds and have it bite me. I'm signed up for the Feb 22 Panoz day. Hopefully I'll have my downpipes installed by then. :) You gonna come out and drive? igofst 01-12-2003, 05:27 PM I'll go out there, but I have no desire to drive the track yet. I dont want to push my luck so soon. Plus, I'm thinking about selling it still so I might start to part it out. Want a set of Supperleggeras? he he hee Jeff was easily running a 1:55 on average. I caught a few closer to 1:50 in there, but without a real stopwatch it's hard to be precise. 1:50 is SMOKIN for a daily driver though! I bet some of the cars there were in the LOW 1:40's. They passed me like I was standing still. Better luck next time I guess. ohwell. Too bad we didnt see you at the Andretti meet tonight. it was HUGE. Carguy427 01-12-2003, 06:26 PM I am still a little apprehensive, but I think I am going to give it a try! RobC 01-12-2003, 06:44 PM If you go to the panozracing/com website you'll find the forms in PDF format. I simply faxed it to them with a credit card number. RobC 01-12-2003, 06:48 PM I've actually never been there. I'll make it out there one day... I'm confused. What do you mean "but I have no desire to drive the track yet"? I thought you drove the track yesterday? Carguy427 01-12-2003, 06:58 PM jgriff 01-13-2003, 08:32 AM Saturday times were 1:55 on average best of the day 1:53.4 (from memory) Sunday was colder with tires chunked a little, best time was 151.3. I may of had some better times but I did not time every lap, (sometimes I was busy with passing or being passed at my timing point (black flag station). Out of any given session only had 2 to 3 laps without slower traffic affecting my times. The Panoz guys talked me through some better ways through 5, 7 and 10a. but I was out of pad by then so did not get to implement that. Had a blast, I never really wanted to blast through 12 I know I could get another 5 to 10 mph at track out but, well like you I really did not want to push it too much. Hope to see you out and about. igofst 01-14-2003, 10:01 PM I've had my fill of pulling G's for a while. I have no desire to go back so soon. I'm also trying to keep it off the garudrail and out of the shop. |
