I drove my car to work in the morning and suddenly felt a slight hesitation on the engine and then the Check Engine Light went on. Took it to the dealer for check up and here is the explanation. They have checked the ECU and found that one of the fuel injector has misfired. They found more than normal carbon deposit on it. They cleaned the injector and added some special stuff in my gas that was standard procedure for 15K service. I have been using 93 super unlead since I bought the car. Is the detergent already in the gas preventing this scenario from occuring, huh this make me very paranoid.
Chris T.
98.5 2.8 MS

Some contain more detergents than others, and they don't all contain the same detergents (I suppose some detergents are better than others). Also, the off-brands use whatever gas they can get, so it's a crap-shoot with them. Try using a Techron additive at whatever the recommended interval is on the can. This should keep your injectors, valves, valve seats clean.

One more idea potential - don't get gas if you see a tanker truck refilling the station's underground tanks. This stirs up the dirt/silt/rust in the tanks, increasing chances of you pulling it into your car. Don't kow if this is an old wive's tale or not.
mine did the same thing last week... I was traveling at about 70mph here in los angeles.. check
engine light went on foollowed by a hesitation in the engine, then it just back to normal and has
remained that way.... I'm not sure whether or not to worry...
