I was just checking some rental car rates and they seem very high, almost double the rate from last year. I am going to Kauai in September for two weeks and I was curious what kind of a rate you may have got. It looks like airfare is going thru the roof too. Thanks

what else are you gonna do? paddle a surfboard around the island?
Strongly recommend a Jeep or 4x4 of somekind for Kauai. There's a LOT of great sites to be seen that are best not attempted by regular car. (Dirt roads to secluded beaches, etc.) We went there and the Big Island on our honeymoon last Sept.

If you're in Kauai, be sure to get a rental car. There are so many places to go and you'll miss out huge if you don't get around the whole island.
Here's the deal. I worked this out at the rental counter at the airport without making any prior reservations.
I asked their pricing for rental cars. They said $70 per day. I told them that I am interested in a car for 7 days. They dropped it down to $20 a day. After all taxes, etc. I think it was around $160 total for 7 days.

most cars can go any place on island and since it showers alot on the island I am not a big fan of the jeeps or convertibles.
