I ordered one a coupla months ago. Should be here soon. Dealer offered me invoice plus $1400. Anything in the $1200-1500 over invoice range is probably fair for you and the dealer, IMO.

I just bought one a week ago. It depends on where you live and how many the dealers have. I live in the NW and wagons are popular but the dealers have very few. So they are dropping very little off MSRP. They basically said I could go check around since they'd already turned away a few people(The salesman mentioned a woman in particular). I thought that was a lie but when I went back to finish paperwork another day, the salesman was showing the same woman a new Avant that had just come in and it turns out she had backed out of the deal on the one I bought. She said "You bought my car". Anyway I paid about 1000 off MSRP and it's definitely not a "deal", but I love the car and it was the color and interior I wanted and my wife and I needed one right away. If you're willing to wait, ordering may be a better route. I got 1999 Avant Quattro 1.8T Santorin Blue with Vanilla/Blue interior sunroof, Bose concert, sport package.<p>On another note, this is my first post to this forum and it's an absolutely great place for info. Now I've to glean info on chip'ing etc.<p>Good luck!
