<insert> After reading some posts regarding tires, I'd like to note that I'm running studded snows </insert>

Anyway, a hill in my complex was plowed just enough to pack the snow and form a nice layer of frictionless 'death-ice'. I rounded a corner, only to find my self skidding uncontrollably toward the heap of twisted metal. 7 cars were involved in various collisions, with 5 of us being directly interconnected.

Damage:
Scrapes/Dents on Rear door, front fender.
Broken Tailight.

To arrive at the scene of the accident, I had to first descend a much steeper hill, which was still powdery and untouched...with plenty of traction and no drama experienced for that portion.

Some pics of the fiasco:

I had no issues in the highlands at 7:30 AM, and all I have is RWD.

As soon as anyone found themselves on this particular stretch of road...it was too late.

It's annoying that a woman had to back out of her driveway as a car was careening toward her. Had they not collided, there might not have been a 'pile-up' to snag the rest of us.

In theory, we would have just slid straight for another 50' to where there was no packed snow or ice.
