i've always been abel to get by in HP-unix, linux, etc when i needed to and get the job done, but i think its about time i go from ultra beginner to expert. where do i go for this or how to i get to the expert level? just fvcking around until i learn it will not suffice. anyone want to teach me? or, where to go in seattle to get serious learning so i could take unix jobs?

write your own flavor of linux or bsd.... that'll take you from beginner to expert in no time.
but if you must.... BCC or Seattle CC have programs to assist in your quest.
Or just pay me...

but for serious unix/linux tasks, i think i'm not qualified enought to take a job requiring it.

it's not so bad. Try writing your own operating system in 10 weeks...

If you're past the stage of building servers and doing standard administration/maintenence, GSLUG (Greater Seattle Linux Users Group) may be something worth checking out. Link below has more info on meetings and topics.

http://www.gslug.org/</a
